Toyota recognises champion athletes at annual dealer convention.

Toyota Lanka Ltd, the sole authorised distributor for Toyota vehicles in Sri Lanka, recently held its Annual Service and Spare Parts Dealer Convention 2017 at Jetwing Blue Hotel, Negombo.

The event was graced by over 150 members of Toyota Lanka’s island-wide dealer network in a spirit of true camaraderie. Champion Sri Lankan athlete Sugath Thilakaratne was the Chief Guest at the event.

The top performers of the night included Viskam Motors (winner – Toyota 1S dealers), Lloyds Auto Marts (runner-up – Toyota 1S dealers), Auto World Ltd. Kurunegala (winner – Toyota 2S dealers), Kundasale Auto Service Kandy (first runner-up – Toyota 2S dealers) and Samarasinghe Motors Ltd. (second runner-up – Toyota 2S dealers).

Toyota Motor Corporation Japan will sponsor the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as one of its Worldwide Partners. Thus, deriving its theme from the Olympics, Toyota Lanka recognised and rewarded the champion athletes of Toyota Genuine Parts (TGP) and Toyota Genuine Motor Oil (TGMO) for their outstanding efforts in ‘Going beyond Genuine’ during the concluded financial year 2016/17.

A total of 123 outstanding performers were selected for rewards out of the dealers, fleet customers, TGMO and TGP partners who contested. Of these, 33 institutes earned a tour to Japan, 66 a tour to Vietnam and 24 to Australia. The rewards were allocated based on dealers’ performance against a pre-agreed target as per the ‘Business to Business rewards program (B2B)’, a special sales campaign conducted between July 2016 and March 2017.

Congratulating the winners, Toyota Lanka’s Managing Director Shungo Yoshioka also thanked those in the audience, saying: “As a team, we have achieved great many things over the past couple of years and have delighted our customers with genuine products and genuine services, all thanks to you, genuine people.”

Chief Operating Officer of Toyota Lanka Manohara Athukorala also addressed the dealer staff, acknowledging their performance over the past year and commended them for the tremendous support given to Toyota Lanka during the past financial year and for working hand-in-hand over the years to achieve excellence in the automotive industry. He remarked: “This success wouldn’t have been achieved if not for all your effort and loyalty.”

Finally, Manager Spare Parts and Lubricants Department Vipul Bandara stepped into the limelight as he spoke a few words, stressing the importance of the Toyota-Dealer relationship for business success in the coming years. While teasing the exciting tour destinations set as rewards of next year’s B2B campaign, he closed his address by echoing his key message: “We are happy to give back to those who have helped Toyota thrive during all these years. Storming through challenges we are yet to face in the coming year and thereafter, I believe that we will grow together and win together.”



Toyota Lanka awarded outstanding service leadership by Toyota Motor Corp.

Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited, the sole authorized distributor for Toyota vehicles in Sri Lanka, has been awarded the first ever Outstanding Customer Service Leadership. The award was presented by the General Manager Toyota Motor Corporation Mr.Yoshitaka Nakamura, Senior Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation Kazuhirio Sato, Executive Vice-President Toyota Motors Asia Pacific Mahesh Salkar, General Manager Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific Pte Ltd Yasuhiro Miura and Group Leader Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific Pte Ltd Toshiki Hiriano at a recently held awards ceremony at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

The “Outstanding Customer Leadership Award” is based on Customer Service Excellence Award criteria followed by Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan). This is the first time a company has achieved “The Leadership Award” for 5 consecutive achievements of the “Outstanding Customer Service Award”. Toyota is known globally not only for its superior quality vehicles but also for its outstanding service levels that have enabled the company to win the hearts of millions of customers worldwide.
This particular award evaluates areas such as technical service skills, parts supply operation enhancement, value chain enhancement, customer service improvements and operations kaizen enhancements within the operations in Sri Lanka. Toyota Lanka’s after sales service operation and overall customer service competency was evaluated stringently by a panel of elite specialists. Toyota’s objective through this award is to develop strong dealers that are capable of sustaining true competitiveness and enhance overall customer service competency.

Toyota Lanka first began global recognition for outstanding service levels with a bronze award in 2008 and 2009. With continuous improvements (Kaizen) in local operations, silver awards followed in 2010 and 2011. Since 2012, Toyota Lanka has received the gold award for 5 consecutive years.
Speaking on this significant achievement and success story Toyota Lanka’s Managing Director Shungo Yoshioka said, “Toyota Lanka is indeed proud to be recognized among Toyota Motor Cooperation’s global operations as a leader in customer service operations. This is not only an achievement for Toyota Lanka but is also an achievement for Sri Lanka. This is a result of all our department teams’ tireless effort in to providing each customer quality service by implementing a customer first approach”.

Taking in to consideration the five consecutive gold awards, the Outstanding Customer Service Leadership Award which is significant milestone in Toyota Lanka and Toyota Tsusho Corporation history.
