Toyota Lanka Team A secured the championship trophy in the CMTA Masterminds 2023, organized by the Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA), after competing against industry legends in the Sri Lankan Motor Industry.

 The competition featured 9 motor companies with 16 teams on March 21st, 2023 at the Colombo City Center.

Toyota Lanka Honours Authorized Dealers at 15th Annual Dealer Convention

Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited recently held its 15th Annual Dealer Convention at the Shangri-La Resort & Spa – Hambantota, to recognize and honour their 300 authorized partners from all over the country who played a vital role in the distribution of Toyota Genuine Motor Oil, Genuine Toyota spare parts, PIRELLI & Accelera Tyres. The convention was held under the theme Faster. Stronger. Forward.

The event presented awards to dealers who achieved exceptional sales performance over the 2022/2023 financial year. The Chairman of Toyota Lanka, Mr. Sachio Yotsukura, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Manohara Atukorala, awarded cash rewards to the winners in six categories.

Auto World (Pvt) Ltd was the recipient of the top award in the Overall Best Performer category, with Sterling Automobiles Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. as the Runner Up. Rukmal Motors won in the Service & Garage category, while Viskam Motors Service Centre (Pvt) Ltd. was the Runner Up.

Auto Miraj Group took home top honours in the Service Chain category, with Carepoint Group as the Runner Up. Pathma Motor Stores (Pvt) Ltd. was awarded Best Retail Partner, with Wimal Motors as the Runner Up. Stevans International (Pvt) Ltd. was the winner in both the Best PIRELLI Tyre Partner and Accelera Best Performer categories, while Olympic Tyre House (Pvt) Ltd. and Sandagiri Tyre & Battery Works were the Runner Ups in those categories.

At the event, Toyota Lanka (Private) Ltd. also announced the launch of the latest version of Toyota Genuine Motor Oil with updated packaging, as well as the introduction of the all-new Accelera Tyres. These tires are manufactured with cutting-edge technology and are renowned for their affordability, safety, and superior quality. Passing of TMC Honorary Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of TMC Honorary Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda.

Shoichiro san was a great supporter of our Asia region, and his legacy and contribution can be felt across all of our entities even till today. Those who came in contact with him were struck by his vision, energy and curiosity.

This is a huge loss to the entire Toyota family, as he represented the passion and spirit of a great Toyota leader.

We wish his family all the peace and comfort as they face this difficult time.

Opening of Toyota Lanka Fulfilment Center

Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited, the national distributor of Toyota products, commemorated the 70 years of Japan – Sri Lanka diplomatic relations by ceremoniously inaugurating the state-of-the-art fulfilment facility in Mahara on 14th December, 2022.

The newly opened Toyota Lanka fulfilment center will support the operations of the island-wide dealer network and for all its allied products. Furthermore, a significant cost saving is anticipated with the facility being in full operation whilst improving customer convenience through the improved supply chain.

The fulfilment center located strategically at Mahara, Kadawatha, with quick access to all parts of the country, was built with an investment of US$ 15 million. The facility is built on a 30,000 sq. meter land extent with 13,000 sq. meter of storage facility for the company’s genuine parts, lubricants and accessories along with an ability to store more than 300 vehicles at a given time.

The facility is portrayed as South Asia’s model fulfilment center with multi-mode delivery systems and digitalized inventory management system. All processes are supported by Toyota’s hallmark processes, such as Just-in-Time and Seven Step Storage Techniques. Moreover, the fulfilment center will enable Toyota Lanka to support the development of the region’s auto professionals.

The Honourable President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wikcramasinghe graced the occasion as the chief guest. The presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mizukoshi Hideaki, further made the event memorable. Senior representatives of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, the holding company of Toyota Lanka, were also present at the event, headed by Mr Takuro Akasaka, Chief Operating Officer of the Automotive Division. On behalf of Toyota Lanka, Mr Sachio Yotsukura, Chairman and Mr Manohara Atukorala, Managing Director/CEO were part of the opening ceremony.

Inauguration of Toyota Lanka’s newest Anuradhapura service center by distinguished guests

 

Toyota Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the exclusive dealer and distributor for Toyota vehicles and spare parts in Sri Lanka, and a fully owned subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC), Japan, recently relocated its service facility in the ancient city of Anuradhapura to offer all services under one roof. 37+ years of experience spanning to many countries in the Toyota Group, Sachio Yotsukura has been a true leader of multi-national exposure. Previously he was the MD of Toyota Kenya, and Chairman of Toyota Zimbabwe, Malawi, Uganda, and Mauritius. He possesses diverse working experience in Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and Southeast Asia.

Manohara Atukorala is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICSL) and holds MBA from University of Colombo. He is a product of De Mazenod College, Kandana. He joined Toyota Lanka in 2003 from an overseas hospitality industry as the Head of Finance. He was able to successfully transform the company to establish a new culture of “Customer-Guest-Experience”.

Largely he had been the cornerstone to turnaround the Toyota Lanka as a change catalyst-artist. By crafting and rafting the company strategy from an undesirable state into a state of growth and prosperity, had gained him a global attention as an “transformation leader”.

He is the first-ever Sri Lankan MD/CEO to be appointed by Toyota Group Japan after six Japanese MD’s at the helms. It was during this time; he was tasked with revamping the company’s strong brand presence backed by after-sales services have come into more attention in design                                                                       and delivery.  

Chairman said, “it was the right decision to appoint Manohara Atukorala as the MD/CEO, who moved the company from 2003 and into the new era of automotive and mobility with deeper focus on customers.” During his career, Manohara Atukorala was monumental to introduce many Japanese customer service principles such as Toyota Way philosophy to Sri Lankan operations.

Chairman, representing Toyota Tsusho Corp (TTC), said that headquarters is extremely pleased with the achievements and leadership of Manohara Atukorala. He made Toyota Lanka the jewel of the crown in our group”. Speaking on this, Manohara Atukorala said “I’m very delighted to accept this appointment as MD/CEO and further rest assured of maintaining the highest customer focus and quality of service” to this nation.

Prior to this appointment, he was successfully completed an accelerated Global Advance Leadership Program which conducted in three phases in Paris France, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and Japan in 2019 on global leadership, strategy, and innovation at HEC Paris.  This program is only offered to, by the recommendation of Toyota Tsusho Group, Japan for few and selected C-Suite of the highest reflection of leadership and strategy. HEC. is one of the world’s oldest business schools established in 1881 and catering to prized CEO’s in the world.

Toyota Lanka Donation to Combat Covid – 19

“Toyota Lanka, the next-gen mobility solutions to the nation wheels into fight against COVID-19 with Government of Sri Lanka.”

As a global citizen – a member of Toyota Group and as a true Sri Lanka multi-national; Toyota Lanka donated 20 million rupees valued two (2) luxury Toyota Coaster Buses to Government of Sri Lanka which was ceremoniously accepted by His Excellency President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, at the president’s office today (22 April). These buses are planned to serve the country in the ensuing days, as a national endeavor for the mobility and transportation purposes of medical necessities, medical offices and utilities for the health sector in savings lives from the pandemic. The buses were accepted by the Ministry of Health & Indigenous Medical Services, where one Toyota coaster bus was donated to Medical Research Institute (MRI) for the swift and safety mobility of test-research kits, officials and medical equipment for epidemic control unit. The 2nd unit was handover to Government Medical Officer’s Association (GMOA) for their special health promotion interventions for the fight against communicable and non-communicable diseases prevention projects throughout in Sri Lanka.

The donation of two units of Toyota Coaster buses took place at the Presidential Secretariat Office under the patronage of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Secretary to the President Dr. P.B Jayasundara, Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Chairman of the State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) Dr. Uthpala Indrawansa, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Lanka Manohara Atukorala, General Manager-Sales Udaya Francis and Senior Head Service Operations, Nihal Palliyaguruge.”
