The Toyota Dream Car is back, giving young imaginations a world without limits

The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is back, inviting children aged 15 and below to put their imagination on paper and create a car that reflects the world they dream of.

For children, imagination has no limits. A car can become anything they imagine, solve a problem that has never been solved, protect the environment, or make everyday life better for someone they love. After all, there was once a time when even the idea of a car that could move people safely and freely was simply a dream. Today, many of the things we know and use began as ideas that once seemed impossible. That is the beauty of the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. It gives children the freedom to express their own ideas, in their own way, and be heard.

The 9th National Toyota Dream Car Art Contest 2026/2027 marks another chapter in Toyota Lanka’s journey of inspiring young minds. Since bringing the global initiative to Sri Lanka in 2011, Toyota Lanka has continued to encourage creativity, nurture innovative thinking, and create opportunities for children to share their ideas with the world.

The national contest features three age categories, with nine national winners selected across the first, second and third places in each category. Their artworks will go on to compete at the global level alongside entries from children around the world in the 20th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.

At the World Contest, children can be recognized through the Grand Prize across the three categories, as well as special awards including the Let’s Change the Future of Cars Award and the Waku-Doki Award. Best Finalists will also be recognized across each category. The winning children and their schools will receive cash prizes for the relevant awards, while Best Finalists will receive cash prizes individually.

With approximately 260,000 entries from 87 countries and regions in the 19th contest, the global stage is a powerful reminder that a child’s imagination can travel far beyond what they see around them. Sri Lankan children have already shown this, with 10 global award winners since 2013.

More than competition, Dream Car is an opportunity for children to explore their creativity, think differently, and imagine solutions for the future. So, pick up your pencils, colors, and imagination, and let your dream car tell the world what you believe the future could look like.
